Soon, another labour ward to open in Thane civil hospital
THANE: With the rise in the number of expecting mothers rushing to the state-run civil hospital in labour, the hospital authorities will open another
Many expecting mothers, not only from Thane, Kalwa and nearby cities, but even from Shahapur, Ambernath and Murbad come to the hospital for delivery. Officials said that many are even referred to the hospital by other municipal hospitals, especially during complications.

. Currently, there are 42 beds and around 100 expecting mothers and those with newborns in the labour ward. There was an urgent need of another such ward, so we will be making arrangements for these patients in a ward within three to four days after it is ready. Also, we will be placing some machines, which will help in monitor the patient’s health,” said Dr Kailash Pawar, civil surgeon.The new ward will have a capacity of around 25 beds and there will be equipment to monitor the health of the mothers, especially the ones who have undergone caesereans.
