Thane: Chemical substance dumped into Kalyan drainage line, FIR filed

KALYAN: The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) and Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) in a joint operation seized 15 empty drums of chemical near a drainage line in residential area near MIDC in Dombivli after locals complained of foul smell.

The locals alleged that some chemical substance was dumped into the drain by unidentified persons.

The MPCB later filed an FIR against unidentified persons at Manpada police station.

The police have found a CCTV footage through which they have found a tempo entering the under construction premises where they dumped the chemical into nullah.

The MPCB sources said that locals from Khambalpada area in Dombivli on Tuesday evening complained of foul smell after which they sent their team.

The team traced empty drums.

Upendra Kulkarni, Kalyan division officer of MPCB said, "We have registered an FIR in connection with the incident."
