2.69 crore voters in state’s final list, 8.97 lakh names removed

Thiruvananthapuram: The final voter list in the state, as part of the special intensive revision (SIR), was published on Saturday. The list includes 2.69 crore voters, comprising 1.31 crore men, 1.38 crore women and 227 transgender individuals.

Overall, the SIR has led to the removal of approximately 8,97,211 voters. The revised electoral roll has 2,69,53,644 voters, compared to 2,78,50,855 before the SIR began in Oct last year, according to Election Commission (EC) data.
The EC officials stated that 36.88 lakh voters were issued notices for hearing as part of the SIR process, of whom 53,229 were excluded from the final list. There is still an opportunity to add names to the voter list.

Voter roll updates open till nomination date: EC

The EC said additions could be made until the last day for submitting nomination papers for assembly elections. According to EC data, a total of 2,23,558 people have registered as overseas voters in the state.

The highest number of voters is in Malappuram district (36,15,970), followed by Kozhikode (26,57,478). Thiruvananthapuram has 25,26,325 voters, while Ernakulam has 24,69,794. Wayanad has the lowest number, with 6,40,947 voters. Malappuram also has the highest number of male and female voters, with 18,10,627 men and 18,05,303 women.

The final electoral roll will be displayed at polling stations and can also be accessed on the chief electoral officer’s website, ceo.kerala.gov.in. For first-time voters aged 18–19 who do not yet have a voter ID card, as well as those who have changed residence or require corrections, voter ID cards (EPIC) will be distributed through booth-level officers.

Those who turned 18 by Jan 1, 2026, but could not register during this revision period, as well as future voters reaching 18 after this date, can apply through voters.eci.gov.in or the ECINET mobile app via their booth-level officer. Voters can submit applications online or offline to verify the roll, make corrections, or delete entries if necessary.

Under Section 24(A) of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, a first appeal can be submitted to the district election officer against the decision of the electoral registration officer. Under Section 24(B), a second appeal can be submitted to the chief electoral officer against the decision of the district election officer.
