Thiruvananthapuram: The principal sessions court here is scheduled to pronounce its verdict in the sensational Attingal twin murder case on Thursday.

The case pertains to murder of Swastika, aged 3, and her paternal grandmother Omana, 60. They were hacked to death at their residence in Mamam on April 16, 2014.

Swastika's father Lijeesh suffered injuries in the incident.

IT professional Nino Mathew is the prime accused in the case, and his colleague and Swastika's mother Anu Santhi is the second accused.

According to the prosecution, the accused carried out the crime to continue their extramarital relationship, and also to start a life together.

Their plan was to eliminate Lijeesh also and to portray the crime as a robbery bid. tnn

Police arrested the accused based on the statement of Lijeesh, who escaped with injuries. Mathew, who allegedly carried out the killing, reportedly named Anu Santhi during interrogation.

The trial in the case commenced on October 12, 2015 and concluded on March 23, 2015.
