Celebrations at Kanakakunnu from Sept 13

Thiruvananthapuram: ‘Onakoottaima' will be held at Kanakakunnu and Nishagandhi from Sept 13 to 22. State govt has cancelled official Onam celebrations in view of the Wayanad landslides. Organizers of the event said the Kanakakunnu premises would be lit up, and festivities would be spiced up with stage programmes at Nishagandhi throughout the 10 days.Local artists and residents' associations will join hands with private entities that organize the celebrations this year. At least 500 local artists will get an opportunity to perform at the mini stage to be set up near the palace, the organisers said.An amusement park, trade fair, food festival and pets park will be conducted as part of Onakoottaima. Competitions in Thiruvathira, folk dance, Onapattu, folk song, choreography, battle of bands and reels production will also be held.
