Thiruvananthapuram: Nedumangad is all set to welcome Onam with a festival fair and celebration.
‘Onotsavam 2022’, jointly organized by the tourism department and Nedumangad municipal corporation, has started.
Minister of food and public distribution G R Anil will inaugurate the cultural conference, which is a part of the fair, on Wednesday. Actor Asif Ali will be the chief guest at the function.
Several government and semi-government institutions as well as the Nedumangad municipality have set up stalls for the exhibition and sale of products at Kallingal Ground.
Various folk art forms and cultural contests for school and college students, including flower carpet making and Thiruvathirakali competitions, will be part of the fair.
Nedumangad will also be lit up with electric lights sponsored by traders, industrialists and government institutions. Onam celebrations will conclude with a colourful procession on Sunday. The procession will start from Nedumangad municipality premises and will end at Kacherinada.
Art forms like Theyyam, Shinkari Melam, Chenda Melam, Panchavadyam will be performed. School and college students, NCC, NSS, SPC cadets, Asha workers, Anganwadi staff and Kudumbashree members will also take part in the procession.
