Kerala flood: Landslide claims four lives in Teekkoy

The incident occurred in Vellikkulam along Wagamon road, where four persons of a family lost lives after their house was washed away in the landslide on Wednesday night. Three family members were rescued from the debris by the locals and were shifted to hospital.

The mishap occurred around 10pm on Wednesday. It was Mami, her daughter Molly and Molly's children Alphonsa and Tintu, who were killed. The region is prone to landslides. When the local residents rushed to the spot after hearing the sound and excess flow of water, there was nothing left in the place where the house was located. Soon, earth movers were brought in to search the missing people from the debris.

Earlier in the day, a youth had gone missing in a landslide at Ottayeetti in Teekkoy. The youth was identified as Joby, a staff of Meenachil Panchayath, who had gone missing while riding back home from his wife’s house on a bike. It is suspected that he got trapped in the landslide, which had occurred during that time.
