THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After receiving two international popularity awards, Kerala adds another feather to its cap. The state has been voted 'favourite Indian leisure destination' of the year in a survey conducted by Conde Nast Traveller magazine.

Kerala shares the top spot with Goa this time. Recently, the

Lonely Planet

has adjudged Kerala as the best family destination and according to Travel + Leisure magazine, the state is a top honeymoon spot.

received the award at a ceremony held in New Delhi on Thursday, which was attended by tourism officials and industry leaders.

"We are honoured to be recognised as a place to relax and rejuvenate by travellers. Kerala is known for its natural beauty and the state's historical connections with many other parts of the world have contributed to its popularity," said tourism minister Kadakampally Surendran.

Tourism principal secretary Dr Venu V said, "Be it stay on a houseboat cruising through serene backwaters, relaxing on the pristine beaches or culture, tradition and art, Kerala offers a perfect all-in-one leisure experience".
