THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) sanctioned projects worth Rs 4,351.55 crore for Kerala Water Authority (KWA). The amount has been sanctioned for 69 projects. Of this, 33 projects are above Rs 50 crore each.


Among the sanctioned projects, more number of projects have been sanctioned in Alappuzha and Malappuram to put an end to drinking water shortage. Three major projects, worth Rs 700.37 crore, have been sanctioned in Alappuzha with an aim to make drinking water available in all households.

For the second phase of Kuttanad drinking water project, Rs 289.54 crore has been sanctioned by KIIFB. For Alappuzha municipality to complete the ongoing drinking water projects, Rs 211.70 crore has been sanctioned. Additionally, funds have been sanctioned for various drinking water projects in Aala, Puliyoor, Budhanoor, Pandanad, Mulakkuzha and

Venmony

panchayats in

Alappuzha district

and

Chengannur

municipality.

In Malappuram, KIIFB has sanctioned Rs 520.36 crore for six projects. The water woes faced by Ponnani, Tanur,

Valanchery

, Edayur, Ramanjadi, Manjeri and Kondotty panchayats will be resolved with these projects. Apart from these two districts, KIIFB has sanctioned funds for various projects under KWA in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Pathanamthitta. tnn
