Kim Ki-duk’s 2005 film ‘The Bow’ at Bharat Bhavan today

T'puram: As part of the Friday film screening organized by the Kerala State Chalachithra Academy in collaboration with Bharat Bhavan, the renowned South Korean director Kim Ki-duk's film ‘The Bow' will be screened at 6pm on Friday.
The screening will take place at Bharat Bhavan, Thycaud and entry will be free. Only individuals above the age of 18 will be allowed entry. This film was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival. It tells the story of the relationship between a 60-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl living on a fishing boat anchored off the Korean coast.
She was with him since she was six years old and he plans to marry her when she turns 17. The man uses the boat as a fishing spot for tourists and sternly warns those who trouble the girl by shooting arrows at them.
When not used as a weapon, the bow transforms into a musical instrument like a violin. The story takes a turn when a young man arrives on the boat and falls in love with the girl. Like many of Kim Ki-duk's other films, this one contains minimal dialogue. The film's duration is one and a half hours
Kim, who passed away in 2020, was known for films that were a unique blend of quirkiness, sensitivity, brutality, eroticism, and even mysticism.
