Thiruvananthapuram: City-based Mar Ivanios College and Massachusetts General Hospital (department of radiation oncology), affiliated with Harvard Medical School have entered into a research exchange agreement regarding agents targeting the tumor microenvironment (antiangiogenic or antifibrotic agents) or targeting the cancer cells (radiotherapy, chemotherapy, targeted agents) in combination with immunotherapy approaches.
Baselios Cardinal Cleemis Catholicos, patron and manager of MSC Colleges, and Dr Dan Gabriel Duda, director of translational research in GI radiation oncology, Massachusetts General Hospital Research Institute, Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA, exchanged research agreements at an event held at Mar Ivanios Vidya Nagar on Monday.
A seminar on ‘Liver cancer biology and therapy, combine and conquer’, was also held on the occasion. The seminar was inaugurated by Dr Jijimon K Thomas, principal Mar Ivanios College, and was attended by Fr Soji Mathew Muruppel, Dr Shirley Stewart, Dr Meera George and Dr Suboj Babykutty. Dr Duda delivered the keynote address.
