The decision was made during a meeting chaired by general education minister V Sivankutty with the authorities concerned. The water supply has been completely disrupted in 33 corporation wards and partially disrupted in 11 corporation wards due to the replacement of 500 mm and 700 mm pipes as part of the Thiruvananthapuram-Kanyakumari railway line doubling project.Meanwhile, interconnection works to restore water supply in Vazhuthacaud and Thycaud wards, which were affected by works under the Kerala Road Fund Board project, will be completed by Sept 12. To ensure the efficient operation of the tankers, water will be provided from five vending points of KWA. It was decided at the meeting that steps will also be expedited to obtain cabinet approval for the work contract under the Amrit II project to address the severe drinking water shortage in the Kazhakkoottam area.
