Government hospital police arrested Ajith alias Balaji, Kumar, Balaji, Silambarasan and Ravikumar of

Musiri

area for kidnapping S James, 40, from Beema Nagar. The victim’s wife, J Kavitha, 36, had lodged a complaint with the police on January 30 alleging that a five-member gang had abducted her husband from a tea shop at Uyyakondan Thirumalai on Wednesday morning.

Preliminary inquiry by the police revealed that the team had come on a car and dragged James forcefully inside while he was chatting with his friend at the tea shop. The inquiry found that James arranged jobs in private companies and loans from banks as well as

finance

companies. He was also involved in real estate and construction activities. He had got acquainted with Ajith and Kumar and offered to arrange loans from private banks for which he got Rs 1 lakh and Rs 50,000 from them respectively as fees one-and-a-half years ago.

However, James dragged his heels over the loan and also refused to return the money to the duo. Frustrated by the delay, the duo hatched a plan with three of their friends to kidnap James and get their money back, and executed their plan. When caught, the gang admitted to have kidnapped James. The police arrested them, released James and seized the car used for the crime.tnn
