Hearing on Mugilan custody plea postponed

He told the Court that he was tortured by the police in prison for which he is staging hunger protest from Saturday. He said that he was brought to the court in haste and could not contact his advocate. Hearing Mugilan, Judge adjourned the case till Tuesday.
Earlier in the day, Mugilan raised slogans against police claiming to have been illtreated by them. He sought release of seven of the convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.
Lodged in Trichy central prison on July 10 after his arrest in connection with a sexual harassment complaint in Chennai, Mugilan was brought to the Karur Judicial Magistrate Court- II on Monday.
Coordinator of Tamil Nadu Environmental protection movement, Mugilan went missing from mid of February this year when he was travelling in a train to Madurai from Chennai.
He was protesting Hydrocarbon, Sterlite, eight lane Salem-Chennai green corridor projects. He went missing a day after he released a video in a press meet in Chennai with incriminating evidence on alleged orchestration of shootout against anti Sterlite protestors by Tuticorin police.
Within days after he went missing, a woman from Namakkal had lodged a police complaint against Mugilan of sexual exploitation.
The 37-year-old woman told police in Kulithalai all woman police station she was closely associated with Mugilan in his various protest and he forced her for sexual favour by giving false promise of marriage. TNN

by CB CID police on Monday, a Karur court adjourned the case until Tuesday. Mugilan told the court that he is not willing to go for CB CID inquiry and sought the reasons in Tamil based on which CB CID has sought his custody.IPL 2025 mega auction
