TRICHY: Telangana governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan on Saturday took potshots at the DMK government for its ‘inconsistent’ stand on the need for a governor post in states.

“If you (DMK government) don’t need a governor, you should not have gone to Raj Bhavan and submitted petitions (against the ruling party then). Now, you are ruling the state. So, you don’t need a governor,” said Tamilisai while speaking to reporters in Trichy.

On the criticism about the time taken by the governor in giving assent to the bill to ban online rummy in Tamil Nadu, Dr Soundarrajan, who is also Puducherry lieutenant governor, said governors can take their time to analyse any bill. She said governors act not only as a bridge between the Centre and the state but also as a strength for the latter. On the two-year governance of the DMK, Tamilisai said the government is good at making announcements and withdrawing them later.
