TN govt will gather all evidence against AIADMK ministers in Gutkha case: Reghupathy

PUDUKOTTAI: Following the sanction given by Tamil Nadu governor R N Ravi to prosecute former AIADMK ministers Dr C Vijayabaskar and B V Ramana for allegedly receiving illegal funds from Gutkha distributors, state law minister S Reghupathi on Monday stated that the government will gather all available evidence against the former ministers to strengthen the case.

Asserting that the Tamil Nadu government would notify the CBI of the governor’s approval for the prosecution of the two ministers, Reghupathy said, “The CBI will initiate the inquiry, during which we will compile additional evidence to bolster the case. Without substantial evidence, the case may be weakened in court.”

Regarding the case against governor Ravi in the Supreme Court, the minister emphasized that the state government would not retreat from pursuing the cases.

“We approached the Supreme Court due to our inability to tolerate the governor’s actions,” he stated, adding that the last five bills sent by the government to the Raj Bhavan are still pending.
