city police on Friday presented 11

three-wheeler

cargo vehicles to drivers in a bid to put an end to the illegal use of banned motorised fish carts in the city.

gave away the vehicles to the drivers at a brief function held in the city police office in the morning.

The police have enumerated 150 fish carts in the city. They want to make the city free of fish carts which have caused several road accidents, posing a threat to road users.

The police initiated the process of replacing the fish carts by arranging vehicle loans. They also helped drivers get driving licence from the regional transport office.
