Woman robbed of gold chain; shop looted in Trichy

TRICHY: Back-to-back incidents of chain snatching and a burglary have been reported in the city within a couple of days.

Main Road on Friday afternoon.

An unidentified man on a motorbike followed them and snatched her gold chain weighing 2.5 sovereigns.

The woman was lucky enough to stay on the bike balancing herself even after the impact of snatching. The chain snatcher escaped from the spot. The woman lodged a complaint with Edamalaipatti Pudhur police after the incident. Police registered a case of robbery.

According to the complaint, V Jayachandran, 29, of Varaganeri in Trichy was running a shop named Shanthi Elite Mart on Thanjavur Road. He closed the shop around 10 pm on September 11 after the day’s business. When he returned to the shop in the next morning he found the shutter of the shops has been broken. Electronic gadgets worth Rs 10,500 were stolen from the shop.
