BJP in-charge traces tribals roots in Hinduism’s bloom, woos community

Udaipur: Rajasthan BJP in charge Radha Mohan Das Agrawal triggered alliance talks with the Bharatiya Adivasi Party on Thursday after he said anyone who wants the development of Rajasthan’s tribal regions should work with a party elected to power in the state as well as Centre. Agrawal’s apparent overtures towards BAP’s Banswara MP, Rajkumar Roat, came during his visit to Salumber and Chorasi assembly constituencies ahead of the imminent assembly bypolls. Though Agrawal denied any formal outreach to BAP, the Rajya Sabha MP underscored BJP’s many initiatives to benefit tribal communities. He said the development of Mangarh Dham, which was transformed into a national museum, was undertaken by former CM Vasundhara Raje. Agrawal also credited BJP with appointing Droupadi Murmu as President. “The tribal community was acutely aware that if anyone had genuinely empowered their society politically, economically, and socially, it was none other than PM Modi,” Agrawal said. “If not today, then tomorrow, Rajkumar Roat will comprehend this reality. Roat is young and will realise with time that nothing can be accomplished by sitting in the lap of Congress,” he added.Agarwal, accompanying BJP state chief Madan Rathore, said BAP’s refusal to acknowledge tribals as Hindus was part of an “insidious conspiracy” that sought to attack “Sanatan culture”. The state BJP in charge, in the news recently for his sharp attacks on Congress’s Sachin Pilot, also underscored that the tribal community was a pillar of strength — the foundation — of Hindu religion and that this was now under “relentless destruction”. Roat, meanwhile, responded to Agrawal’s apparent bid to win over the tribal outfit. He said, “Even after 75 years of independence, no leader has worked for the comprehensive development of tribal areas and the rights of tribals. That’s why the MPs and MLAs of BAP are working today. Thanks to BJP state in charge Radha Mohan Das Agrawal for acknowledging this reality. We hope you will impart wisdom to the BJP leaders of Udaipur and Banswara divisions.”
