UDAIPUR: Five youths were killed in a road accident on late night Thursday in Amberi area under the Sukher police station of Udaipur.

Sukher police station SHO Himanshu Singh Rajawat said Himmat Khatik (32), a resident of Delwara in Rajsamand; Pankaj Nagarchi (24), Gopal Nagarchi (27), Gaurav Jinagar (23), and Narayan Gameti (24), all residents of Udaipur, died in the accident.

The five were travelling from Amberi to Debari when their car, which was on the wrong side, was hit by a dumper coming down a slope at high speed.

The dumper driver attempted to avoid the collision but had no space to manoeuvre. The vehicles collided head-on and completely damaged the car's front side. All the five died on the spot. Police have seized the dumper.

Cops from the Sukher police station reached the spot and cleared the wreckage and retrieved the bodies with the help of villagers and a crane. The deceased were shifted to the MB Hospital mortuary.

Police said the details regarding the travel plan of the deceased remain unclear. Their families have been informed. The probe will reveal more information, police said.
