Former collector known for work in tribal areas

Udaipur: Congress candidate for the Udaipur Lok Sabha seat, Tara Chand Meena, is a native of Pali district and a 2011-batch IAS officer who was promoted from the state civil services.
Meena took voluntary retirement three months ahead of superannuation and his resignation was accepted recently.
During his tenure as the district collector of Udaipur for two years, he actively worked in the tribal areas of Udaipur division and is considered close to former chief minister Ashok Gehlot. After BJP came to power in Rajasthan in December last year, he was removed from the post put on the awaiting posting order (APO) list on January 5.
In April 2023, Meena was felicitated with the CM Excellence Award.
As the district collector of Udaipur, Meena was successful in reaching out to the tribal community. His “Mission Kotra” movement helped in expanding the electorate base in the Udaipur constituency. tnn
