Special NIA court frames charges against nine accused in Udaipur tailor beheading case
JAIPUR: A special court hearing National Investigation Agency (NIA) cases framed charges against nine persons accused in the beheading of Udaipur tailor Kanhaiya Lal here on Tuesday.
The two men, Gaus Mohammad and Mohammad Riyaz, who entered Kanhaiya Lal’s shop masquerading as customers on June 28, 2022 and beheaded Lal for a social media post supporting suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma’s controversial remarks, were framed under multiple IPC sections including 302 (murder), 295A (Deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings), 307 (Attempt to murder), besides relevant provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Arms Act.
After the beheading of Lal, the two men also shot a video holding cleavers and confessed to the beheading. Minhaz Ul Haq, counsel for six of the nine accused, framed charges against Mohsin Khan, Asif Hussain, Wasim Ali, Mohammad Javed, and Muslim Khan. They have been framed under multiple IPC sections including 120B (criminal conspiracy) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
Haq also stated that charges framed against Mohammad Mohsin include criminal conspiracy, the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, and the Arms Act among others.
On the other hand, Farhad Mohammad Sheikh alias Babla, who was granted bail last year, has also been booked for criminal conspiracy, and arms act among others.
Haq mentioned the authorities issued prosecution sanctions against Sheikh as well.
