to death near Mangleshwar Zampa in Fatehpura area on Sunday afternoon.

Accused Krunal Solanki, who was nabbed on Monday, was involved in a rift with the deceased Ravi Solanki since quite sometime as Ravi had made a comment over the accused’s love affair.

According to police, Krunal and Ravi were friends and were involved in a love affair with two sisters. Few months ago, Ravi, who is more economically stable than Krunal, asked him to end his relationship with his girlfriend. Ravi’s parents work in ward 8 of Vadodara Municipal Corporation. Police officials said that Ravi was planning to marry his girlfriend and have extramarital affair with Krunal’s girlfriend.

“The accused was afraid that the girl may break up with her since Ravi is financially sound due to which the accused and deceased had several arguments over the past few weeks,” said the police official. During one such argument Ravi slapped Krunal which had enraged him.

Krunal then called Ravi to meet him near the latter’s house on Sunday afternoon. Krunal went there with his friends Kaushik Solanki and an unidentified person. Kaushik was nabbed on Sunday. The duo again had an argument there and in the heat of the moment Krunal attacked him with a sword and pushed him into a pit dug around a manhole to lay the drainage line.

On Monday evening, cops produced Kaushik in a judicial magistrate’s court, which remanded him to police custody till September 4.
