Girl hangs self to death; family alleges harassment

Varanasi: A 16-year-old girl hung herself to death in a locality under the limits of Luxa police station on Thursday night due to alleged harassment by some local boys.Luxa SP Baijnath Singh on Friday said that based on the family’s complaint, an FIR has been registered against one Kushagra and his two companions under the charges of abetment of suicide. The victim’s body was handed over to her family after conducting postmortem examination, Singh said, adding that further probe in the case is on. The girl hanged herself from the ceiling of her room on Thursday night. Her family alleged that she was being harassed by some boys on her way to school and back.One Kushagra of Sigra had threatened and abused her on phone call on Thursday due to which she was upset, they firther told police. tnn

Harassed in school, boy, 16, jumps to death from NCR hostel

A class XI student of a residential school in Rewari committed suicide by jumping from his hostel room balcony. In a note found in his room, the student accused the school authorities of harassment and complained about the poor educational environment. This incident follows a similar tragedy in Faridabad last year where a student also left a note blaming the school for his death. The family has filed a complaint and an internal probe has been initiated by the school's board of administration. The police are investigating the allegations made in the note.
