Mob sets school bus afire after boy, 11, killed under its wheels in UP

Varanasi: An 11-year-old, Raj Yadav, was killed when a school bus hit him near Nadav market under Saraimir police station in Azamgarh district on Thursday. Angered by the incident, locals staged a violent protest and set the bus on fire after taking children out of the vehicle.Police pacified the situation after assuring stern action against school authorities, said Azamgarh's ASP (rural) Chirag Jain, adding that the body of the boy was sent for postmortem and after dousing the flames, the bus was seized. creLocals informed police that Raj was going to the market in Nandav area on a bicycle when the school bus hit him, killing him on the spot. They said that on noticing poor fitness level of the bus and a teenage person in the driver seat, they went on the rampage and staged a protest. In the meantime, all children came out of the bus, after which the angry mob of locals set the vehicle on fire. Personnel from several police stations arrived on the scene and the ASP assured the family of Raj Yadav a thorough investigation.
