on Monday declared a 28-day
lockdown
period in
Srikalahasti
in the district following a spike in the number of Covid-19 positive cases.
The announcement was made after two new cases were reported in Srikalahasti on Monday. The number of Covid-19 cases in Srikalahasti stands at five, while Chittoor district has 31 cases.
The patients who tested positive are family members of a person who attended the gathering at
Nizamuddin Markaz
in Delhi, returned to the district and was placed under quarantine.
At a review meet with municipal officials in Srikalahasti, the collector directed that foolproof sanitation measures be put in place. Officials were also directed to enforce a strict lockdown in Srikalahasti. Speaking to reporters, the collector said the lockdown will be extended in the constituency irrespective of the decision at the national level.TNN
