Fire-hit Foxlink plant gives a month’s holiday to staff
Vijayawada: The Taiwan-based Foxlink has declared a holiday for a month to its 1,600 workers following a massive fire accident at its plant in Tirupati district on Monday. The company is a cable supplier to Apple Inc. The plant is located at Jinkalamitta in Tirupati district.Renigunta deputy superintendent of police A Ramachandra said there was no loss of life in the fire accident, though the company suffered heavy losses. Senior officials of the police, fire and the factories departments are investigating the case and ascertaining the cause of the fire. The insurance firm is assessing the quantum of loss, police said.A senior official said the plant suffered heavy damage. The main manufacturing unit was completely gutted in the fire. Besides Apple, the company also makes and sells cable assemblies and other accessories to several leading companies.
