Football player killed in attack by rivals in Vijaywada
VIJAYAWADA: A 23-year-old football player was brutally killed in an attack by rivals in Gurunanak colony, Vijayawada on Tuesday.
The deceased, identified as Akash, is a state-level football player.
Akash was killed after a scuffle at a bar in Vijayawada that took place on Tuesday in Vijayawada Gurunanak Colony.

Later, they went to a bar near GGH in the afternoon. There are two groups of Tony followers. Among these groups was Akash from Jakkampudi who had an altercation with another group. Akash assaulted a member of the rival gang and left the spot and went to his friend's house in Guru Nanak Colony.
While Akash was sleeping under the influence of alcohol, he was accompanied by three others at that time.
Noticing the rival gang members with knives, Akash’s friends fled from the spot. The accused brutally assaulted and stabbed Akash 16 times and fled from the spot. A half an hour later the Akash’s friends reached out to the room and found Akash was lying in a pool of blood. They rushed the victim to the hospital.
However, doctors declared Akash dead by then. The doctors informed the police about the incident.
Upon receiving the information, the police reached the hospital and collected the details.
A case has been registered and an investigation is on.
