VIJAYAWADA

: The swearing-in ceremony of the 14 judges allocated to the Andhra Pradesh high court was held at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium on Tuesday. The high court returned to Andhra region after 62 years.


ESL Narasimhan, governor, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, administered the oath to chief justice Praveen Kumar, followed by other judges. Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu attended the programme along with chief secretary Anil Chandra Punetha and other senior government officials.

Registrar general Ch M Roy read the notification issued by the Government of India on the constitution the high court of Andhra Pradesh before the oath-taking ceremony.

Justice Chalasala Narayana Bhatti, Justice Akula Venkata Sesha Sai, Justice M Seetha Rama Murthy, Justice Durga Prasad, Justice Talluri Sunil Chowdary, Justice Mallavolu Satyanarayana Murthy, Justice Gudiseva Syam Prasad, Justice J Uma Devi, Justice Nakka Bala Yogi, Justice Telaprolu Rajani, Justice DVSS Somayajulu, Justice Kongara Vijaya Lakshmi, Justice M Ganga Raju were sworn in as judges of the AP high court. The chief minister congratulated the judges and welcomed them to Amaravati. He asked them to support the government and get prepared to face hardships initially.

Lawyers from various parts of Andhra Pradesh and law students across the state participated in the programme along with their families.
