TIRUPATI: High tension gripped Nandyal district in Andhra Pradesh after the district police wing placed former Telugu Desam party minister Bhuma Akhila Priya under house arrest at Allagadda on Saturday morning.

Following a series of accusations and counter accusations, Bhuma Akhila Priya said she had all the evidence to prove her accusations about the illegal activities of Allagadda YSRC legislator Shilpa Ravichandra Kishore Reddy and she dared him for a face-off at the Gandhi Chowk junction at Nandyal on Saturday.

The district police wing who sensed the situation could lead to a law and order problem, served notices and placed Bhuma Akhila Priya under house arrest.

Telugu Desam party activists and Bhuma Akhila Priya's followers staged protests, denouncing the police action against their leader.

Following tension at Allagadda, a large posse of police personnel were posted for bandobust duties at the constituency headquarters.
