MPDO falls sick during visit to village, carried in doli

Visakhapatnam: A mandal parishad development officer (MPDO) of Ananthagiri mandal in ASR district was carried in a doli (makeshift stretcher) for more than three kilometre in pitch dark with the help of torchlight on Thursday night, after he fell sick during his visit to the hilly tribal hamlet.
The MPDO along with other medical and health department personnel had trekked more than eight kilometre on Thursday to reach the tribal hamlet Karriguda of Gumma panchayat under Ananthagiri mandal in ASR district following the instruction of the ASR district administration.
Karriguda village lacks road connectivity and basic amenities. The officials conducted a medical camp in the village as some villagers had fallen sick with diarrhoea.
While returning from the village during the night hours of the same day, the MPDP fell sick due to trekking. After being administered first aid, the medical staff carried him in a doli to shift to the road point from where the staff reached their homes.
It is noted that the residents of the hill-top village have been demanding road connectivity for a long time. Despite allocation of funds for the construction works, the project remained incomplete.
The tribal villagers said that neither the public representatives nor officials had committed to lay roads to hill-top areas.
