YSRCP leader Jogi Ramesh’s house vandalised, set on fire over remarks against AP CM Chandrababu Naidu, Nara Lokesh
VIJAYAWADA: A day after Guntur witnessed intense political tension over abusive remarks targeting chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, a similar flashpoint erupted in NTR district, triggering fear and unrest in Ibrahimpatnam. Controversial comments allegedly made by YSRCP leader and former minister Jogi Ramesh against the Naidu and IT minister Nara Lokesh set off a chain of events that quickly spiralled into a law-and-order situation on Sunday.
Angered by the remarks, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) cadres laid siege to Jogi Ramesh's residence in Ibrahimpatnam, staging a large-scale protest.
The situation turned volatile when a section of protesters allegedly set fire to parts of the house, sending shockwaves through the locality. Heavy police deployment followed as tension gripped the area, with reinforcements rushed in to prevent the situation from worsening.

TDP activists from Mylavaram, Vijayawada West, G Kondur and Ibrahimpatnam converged in large numbers, raising slogans and demanding action against the YSRCP leader. Anticipating trouble, Jogi Ramesh reportedly left his residence before the protesters arrived. At the time of the incident, his father, Jogi Mohan Rao, wife, Shakuntala Devi, and younger son, Rohit, were present at home, heightening concerns over their safety.
As news of the attack spread, YSRCP leaders and supporters rushed to Ibrahimpatnam, leading to a tense standoff between cadres of both parties. Police acted swiftly, dispersing groups from both sides and tightening security around the area. While YSRCP activists gathered near Jogi's residence, TDP cadres shifted their protest to the Ibrahimpatnam Ring Road, further disrupting normal life.
The unrest followed Jogi Ramesh's sharp criticism of the ruling party leadership earlier in the day, during which he allegedly used unparliamentary language while addressing the media after offering special prayers at the Ibrahimpatnam Anjaneyaswamy temple. His remarks, particularly against minister Lokesh and the government over the Tirupati laddu controversy and SIT probes, drew strong condemnation from TDP leaders.
With back-to-back incidents in Guntur and now NTR district, political temperatures across Andhra Pradesh rose sharply. Police remain on high alert, wary that escalating rhetoric could spark further clashes in the days ahead.
