Wife refuses to give money, killed

Vijayawada: A man was nabbed by Vijayawada police for killing his wife after she refused to hand him the money credited to her bank account under Ammavodi scheme. The government had credited 13,000 to the account of R Dhanalakshmi. According to the police, Dhanalakshmi’s husband, Rajesh, is an alcoholic and pressured her to give him the money. However, she refused as she was aware that he would spend it on liquor, following which an enraged Rajesh brutally assaulted her. Dhanalakshmi, who was at her parents’ house, died on Sunday due to the injuries. TNN
