Anakapalli election results 2024 live updates: BJP's C.M. Ramesh triumphs, trouncing Congress rival Vegi Venkatesh
C.M. Ramesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate, has emerged triumphant in the Anakapalli Lok Sabha constituency during the 2024 general elections. Ramesh's commanding performance has seen him maintain a substantial lead over his primary rival, Vegi Venkatesh of the Congress party, as the vote counting progresses.
This emphatic win for Ramesh appears to be a continuation of the success enjoyed by the BJP and its alliance partners, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Jana Sena Party (JSP), in the previous 2014 and 2019 elections. The constituency, which encompasses seven assembly segments within the Visakhapatnam district, has once again reposed its faith in the BJP-led coalition.
Anakapalli, a suburb of Visakhapatnam is a General category Lok Sabha seat in Andhra Pradesh. It is made up of 7 assembly constituencies which are situated in Visakhapatnam district.
The voting in Anakapalle for 2024 Lok sabha election was held on 13 May 2024 in the fourth phase.
C. M. Ramesh of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Budi Mutyala Naidu of Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP), Vegi Venkatesh of Indian National Congress (INC), Appala Raju Nammi of Bharatha Chaitanya Yuvajana Party (BCYP) and others are in fray for Anakapalle seat in the Lok Sabha election 2024.
In the Lok Sabha election 2019, YSRCP candidate Dr Beesetti Venkata Satyavathi had won the seat with 5,83,210 votes (48.68%). On the other hand, TDP candidate Adari Anand Kumar got 4,95,381 (41.35%) votes. There was a margin of 87,829 votes between the two candidates.BJP, INC, and PRAP got zero vote shares in the same election.
In the Lok Sabha election 2014, TDP leader Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao had won the seat with 5,66,667 votes (49.9% of the total votes). On the other hand, YSRCP leader Gudivada Amarnadh got 5,18,566 votes (45.67% of the total votes), the second highest. The margin of votes between the two leaders was 48,101.While INC got 1.5% vote share, BJP and PRAP couldn’t get any vote share in the same election.
The voter turnout of Anakapalle in the Lok Sabha election 2024 was 82.03%. On the other hand, 81.54% voter turnout was recorded in the Lok Sabha election 2019.
Anakapalle has a literacy rate of 59.86%.
There are approximately 132,022 SC voters (8.7% as per 2011 Census) and 39,455 ST voters (2.6% as per 2011 Census) in Anakapalle.
The rural voters and urban voters are approximately 1,236,760 (81.5% as per 2011 Census) and 280,737 (18.5% as per 2011 Census) in numbers respectively.
Addressing public meetings in Rajahmundry and Anakapalle in Andhra Pradesh on May 6, PM Narendra Modi had expressed confidence that NDA will form govts in all states where assembly elections are taking place along with general elections.
He also assured that the NDA govt will ensure a guaranteed income to farmers. The PM said the Union govt was committed to developing Andhra Pradesh through the Visakhapatnam Chennai industrial corridor on the lines of Mumbai-Delhi industrial corridor.
