VISAKHAPATNAM: Deputy chief minister K Pawan Kalyan pledged that the NDA government would take steps to ensure that the structures on Rushikonda Hill serve the public interest. Currently, the palace-like structures on the hill are completely unusable, as they were constructed in violation of National Green Tribunal regulations.

During his visit to the Rushikonda Hill structures on Monday evening, while returning from Gurla village in Vizianagaram, where 10 people died due to alleged diarrhea, Pawan inquired about various issues related to the Rushikonda Palace. He was accompanied by Vizag MP Matkumilli Sribharat and Yalamanchili MLA Sundarapu Vijaya Kumar of Janasena. Pawan asked MP Bharat about the legal battle aspect against the Rushikonda structures.

It is worth noting that Pawan Kalyan, the Janasena Party Chief, visited the Rushikonda Palace before the general elections. At that time, he only glimpsed the structures from outside the palace, which was closed and maintained as a restricted area. However, this time, he entered the palace premises in his capacity as Deputy Chief Minister to gather details about the palace, which was constructed at a cost of Rs. 500 crore during the previous government's tenure.

Pawan spent approximately 30 minutes on the premises, inquiring about the extent of the land, its market price, and legal aspects. He also interacted with the staff involved in gardening and sanitation work.
