appreciated the brave efforts of a police sub-inspector who tried his best to arrest two persons smuggling away prohibited liquor in a speeding car at Pulivendula in Kadapa district.

The driver of a sedan who initially slowed down a bit after being stopped by the policemen, tried to pick up speed and get away from there.

Accidentally, SI C Gopinath Reddy who was hit by the vehicle fell on the front window of the car even as the driver of the vehicle tried to get to top speed.

who managed to hold on to the car somehow tried to break the front windows of the car and get in. A few moments later when the car had gone by about 2 odd kilometers, the inmates of the car stopped and absconded from the spot to evade arrest.

Fellow policemen who tried to chase the vehicle found the SI and the abandoned car at a distance from the Raghavendra theatre.

After videos of the SI's heroic act of trying to arrest the liquor smugglers went viral in the social media, and accolades poured in from various quarters, DGP Gautham Sawang and Kadapa SP KKN Anburajan also personally appreciated his efforts and gave him a reward.

Police identified that the two inmates of the car might belong to the ''Sunil gang'' who are wanted in connection with various offences reported at several police stations in the district. Kadapa police are confident about arresting the gang members soon.

13 stolen motorbikes recovered

Meanwhile, Kadapa police recovered 14 stolen motorbikes and arrested an inter-district thief on Saturday.

, a resident of Vempalle arrested by the police confessed that he stole nearly 14 two-wheelers in Kadapa and Anantapur districts and had hidden them at an isolated place in the outskirts of Vempalle. Police recovered 13 of the 14 stolen bikes in connection with the incient.
