According to IMD, the Severe Cyclonic Storm Montha moved northwestwards at a speed of around 10 kmph over the past six hours before weakening into a cyclonic storm. As of 2:30 am (IST) on October 29, 2025, the system was centered near latitude 16.5°N and longitude 81.5°E, approximately 20 km west-northwest of Narsapur, 50 km northeast of Machilipatnam, 90 km west-southwest of Kakinada, 230 km southwest of Visakhapatnam, and 470 km southwest of Gopalpur in Odisha. The IMD said Montha is likely to continue moving northwestward across coastal Andhra Pradesh, maintaining its cyclonic strength for another six hours before weakening into a deep depression later. Latest observations also indicate that the rear section of the storm has made landfall, marking the gradual weakening phase of the system.
