GVMC demolishes wall of Vijayasai’s daughter’s house

Visakhapatnam: The GVMC demolished an allegedly illegal compound wall on Bheemunipatnam beach on Wednesday. The wall, constructed by Penaka Neha Reddy, daughter of YSRCP MP Vijayasai Reddy, was found to be in violation of coastal regulation zone (CRZ) regulations. Under the supervision of Bheemunipatnam zone town planning officer B Srinivasa Rao, staff began removing the concrete pillars, walls, and other structures — reportedly intended for a hotel on the beachfront — at 7 am. The demolition proceeded smoothly, with Bheemunipatnam police providing security.The civic body earlier issued a provisional notice and confirmation order to remove the unauthorised structure on the seaward side. The action was based on construction occurring without prior permission from GVMC and the failure to submit no-objection certificates from coastal zone authority.However, Avyaan Relators LLP, belonging to Neha Reddy, did not comply with the notices. “As they failed to comply with the notices, we demolished the wall and other associated structures. All associated costs of the demolition will be recovered from the company in accordance with the provisions of AP Municipal Corporation Act, 1955,” said a GVMC official.The high court also declined to intervene in the demolition process. The counsel for Neha Reddy made a special mention before Chief Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur on Wednesday, seeking intervention in the matter. However, the division bench suggested that the request be taken before the single judge, where the matter is pending. The single judge earlier declined to stay the notices issued by the GVMC.
