The system is expected to bring heavy rainfall at isolated places over south coastal Andhra Pradesh (SCAP), Rayalaseema, and north coastal Andhra Pradesh (NCAP) from December 17 to 19.

The IMD stated that the associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 3.1 km above mean sea level. It is likely to become more marked and move west-northwestwards towards the Tamil Nadu coast during the next two days.

The IMD forecast that isolated places over coastal Andhra Pradesh (CAP) and Rayalaseema will experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning from December 17 to 20. Squally weather with wind speeds of 35-45 kmph, gusting to 55 kmph, is likely to prevail along and off the south Andhra Pradesh coast and adjoining sea area on December 18 and 19.

Andhra Pradesh recorded 288.3 mm of rainfall between December 1 and December 15, against the normal rainfall of 279.6 mm. This translates into around 3 per cent above normal rainfall.
