Janmashtami celebrations in Vizag come to a festive end

Visakhapatnam: The three-day long Janmashtami celebrations in the city concluded on Sunday amidst festivities, cultural programmes and a fervent devotional fervour.

Janmashtami festivities were conducted by Hare Krishna Society, ISKCON and other Krishna temples in the city.

The ‘maha abhishekam’ and ‘maha mangala arathi’ was conducted on the night of August 24. Devotees thronged in large numbers to witness the rituals and listen to the devotional music.

The ‘abhisekham’ was conducted by Sri Niskinchana Bhaktha Dasa, president of Hare Krishna movement and Akshaya Patra foundation, Visakhapatnam at PM Palem. He also delivered a lecture on the importance of Sri Krishna Janmashtami.

On Nandotsava day (a day after Janmashtami), Vyasa Puja (guru puja) was also conducted. A special event of offering cooked items (satvik food) was organised.
