Medical camp in Vizag tribal villages draws praise from locals
VISAKHAPATNAM: In a commendable effort to reach out to the most vulnerable, the Lungaparthi Primary Health Centre (PHC) medical team conducted a medical camp in the remote villages of Seemagedda and Porlubanda on Friday. These villages, situated a challenging six-kilometre trek away, are often cut off due to heavy rains and swollen streams.
Despite the arduous journey, Dr P Manju Bhargavi, the primary health officer, led her team to the villages to provide essential healthcare services. The camp focused on raising awareness about diarrhoea, a common ailment during the rainy season in the region. Medical tests such as zinc and malaria screening, RDT, and blood smears were conducted, followed by the distribution of necessary medications. Children suffering from pneumonia were provided with nebulizer treatment.
Addressing the villagers, Dr Bhargavi explained the importance of maintaining hygiene, especially handwashing, to prevent diarrhoea. She also recommended consuming oral rehydration solution (ORS) to combat dehydration if anyone develops diarrhoea. The locals appreciated and thanked the medical team for their efforts.
The programme was attended by health supervisors P Venkatalakshmi and B Sanjeeva Rao, cluster coordinator K Appala Konda, MLEHP Sudha, ANM Balanagamma, health assistant Kinjeti Narayanarao, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, and villagers.
