VISAKHAPATNAM: In yet another industrial accident in north coastal Andhra Pradesh, one person was killed and three others suffered burns when a reactor exploded at GMFC Pharma Labs in Atchutapuram pharma SEZ in Anakapalle district on Tuesday.
The blast triggered fire and huge smoke billowed out from the pharma unit creating a panic situation in the vicinity. The workers at the pharma unit and nearby other units ran out of the place for safety.
The deceased was identified as Ch Rama Rao (27). The injured were shifted to a private hospital. Their condition is said to be stable.
Parawada DSP P Srinivas said the fire was brought under control and they verified with the shift chart to see that other workers of the pharma unit are safe. Though the management of the pharma unit claimed that electrical short circuit was the reason for the mishap, the exact reason for the blast is yet to be known.
