VISAKHAPATNAM: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) chairman and YSRCP's regional coordinator of North Andhra districts YV Subba Reddy said that Visakhapatnam will pave the way for more Garjanas as people of this region want Vizag to be made as executive capital of the state.

By observing the sentiment of locals, YSRCP has been supporting the Joint Action Committee’s Visakha Garjana Rally.

Reddy said Visakha Garjana is only the beginning and many more will follow the suite till Vizag gets the capital status.

He said that YSRCP never opposed Amaravati as state capital and it would develop the capital city. For the equal development of all regions, chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy took the decentralization policy.

“Amaravati needs Rs 2 lakhs to Rs 4 lakh crore to build the capital. We are not in a position to invest money on the capital. We can make Vizag capital without spending a rupee. Because it has already developed into a major city with all facilities. At the same time, we will develop Amaravati as a legislative capital,” he said.

Subba Reddy said that his government's main focus is on welfare schemes for the betterment of poor people in the state rather than investing huge money on state capital. “We will observe peaceful protests during the Amaravati farmers' Padayatra in North Andhra. The people of North Andhra say that they are not obstructing the development of Amaravati then why did the Amaravati region obstruct the development of North Andhra when it got an opportunity in the form of capital,” he said.
