Visakhapatnam: Illegal assets of Padam Singh is more than 1,704% than his income
VISAKHAPATNAM: The CBI officials found that Rs1.98 crore valued movable and immovable assets were acquired by Padam Singh, Plant Protection Officer, Plant Quarantine Station, Visakhapatnam.
The investigation has revealed that Padam Singh was found in possession of disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs1.98 crore, which is 1,704 per cent more than his source of income.
The CBI, Visakhapatnam registered a case against Padam Singh on Friday under Sections of 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b) of PC Act 1988 (as amended in 2018).
The allegation in brief is that Padam Singh, Plant Protection Officer, Plant Quarantine Station, Visakhapatnam during the check period between December 2, 2020 and July 15, 2022 acquired movable and immovable assets to the tune of Rs.1,98,22,794 (1704%) which are disproportionate to his known Source of income.
During the period between December 2, 2020 and July 15, 2022 Padam Singh acquired moveable and immoveable assets to the tune of Rs.1,89,32,893. During the period, the total income of Padam Singh was Rs11,62,816 only. However, expenditure during the check period is Rs20,52,717. Thus, likely savings in the hands of Padam Singh was (-) Rs.8,89,901.
Therefore, during the period, he acquired assets to the tune of Rs.1,98,22,794 which are disproportionate to his known sources of income, which is 1704 per cent of his income during the period.
It may be recalled that the anti-corruption wing of the CBI, Vizag, arrested R Padam Singh and regional manager of Exim Logistics Private Limited Athi Bulli Reddiyya alias Murali while Padam Singh accepted a bribe of Rs6,000 from Athi Bulli Reddiyya for clearing pending applications and for issuing favourable certificate to Customs for release of import and export consignments of agricultural commodities in July this year.
