VISAKHAPATNAM: The preliminary investigation into the recent honey-trap case has revealed that the woman and her accomplices cheated more men, including some rich persons on the pretext of marriage. It may be recalled that Bheemili police in Vizag city busted a honey-trap case and arrested 27-year Koruprolu Joy Jamima for cheating a NRI youth and extorted money from him.

The Joy Jamima approached some rich persons through social media networks and she befriends and cheats them in the name of love and marriage. When she meets the rich person in guest houses or some places , she offers sedative laced drinks, after which her accomplices swing into action. The gang then takes private photos of the woman and the man and indulge in extortion by threatening him to upload the photos on social media.

Based on the one victim NRI youth, the Bheemili police arrested Joy Jamima a few days ago. Joy Jamima befriended him on social media, later she took him to her house at Muralinagar in Vizag city, sprayed perfume laced with sedative and offered a sedative laced drink. Later her gang clicked the photos of the woman and the NRI youth and threatened him for money. She also locked him in her house and threatened him to marry her and demanded money.

In another case, a man (an engineering graduate and who operates coffee shops) approached the Kancharapalem police citing that Joy Jamima, her gang visited his coffee shops and befriended him citing that she is an expert in the digital market and will help for the development of the business. Later she invited him into a guest house, where she offered sedative laced soft drinks to him and her gang clicked photos of the woman with him. The woman and her gang threatened him to marry her and demanded money.

Police sources said that Joy Jamima lodged police complaints against few rich persons citing that she was cheated and sexually assaulted on the guise of love marriage.

Vizag city police chief Shankabratha Bagchi said they have been on the job to ascertain the exact number of the victims in the honey-trap laid by the woman. The police are expecting more people (victims) to approach the police in the coming days. A team has been on the job to nab the gang members of the woman, he added.
