“Annie Jr.” Comes Alive on Stage at Wellington College International Pune
The auditorium at Wellington College International Pune was filled with energy, music, and excitement as pupils brought the much-loved musical “Annie Jr.” to life in a vibrant stage production. Pupils from both the Primary and Senior Schools collaborated to present a fresh and engaging interpretation of this timeless classic over three spectacular performances from Thursday, 12th February to Saturday, 14th February 2026.
A legendary production, Annie Jr. proved to be both a creative and technical milestone for the pupils. Building on the success of last year’s Disney’s The Jungle Book Kids, the creative team set out to deliver a more ambitious and musically demanding show. The production challenged pupils to demonstrate strong acting, vocal, and performance skills, an endeavour they rose to with confidence and flair.
These performances wouldn’t have been possible without the guidance of our Head of Music, Mr. Olav Hekala and the music teacher, Mr. Ashutosh Joshi. The stage was transformed through impressive sets designed and realised by the Head of Art - Mr Allan McKeown, alongside Senior School pupils, creating a larger-scale visual experience. Dynamic dance sequences, choreographed by dance teacher Ms Prerna Khoda, captured the lively spirit of New York with an expanded cast, while KS2 class teacher Mr. James Mullin skilfully brought the script to life through expressive dialogue and action.
The first two performances were for the school community and the final performance welcomed audiences from across Pune, with the ensemble captivating viewers from start to finish. This annual tradition of musical theatre continues to offer valuable creative exposure and collaborative opportunities for pupils across both schools.
With each production growing in scale and ambition, Wellington College International Pune looks forward to future performances that promise to be even bigger, better, and bolder.
