CBSE Class 12 English paper omits options between two novels
PATNA: Class XII students of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) have alleged that the English Core paper, which they wrote on Saturday, missed options between two novels.
Of the two books - '
Baldwin Academy student Vishesh Chitransh found the paper easy, except the reading section. He said, "Two separate questions were asked from both the novels, each carrying six marks. I had only read 'Invisible Man', but attempted the question on 'Silas Marner' even if I knew nothing about its characterization and plot."
Several others like Vishesh were also confused when they saw the question paper. Loyola High School's Shashank Kumar told this reporter, "The question carried 6 marks which can make a huge difference in results. I urge the CBSE authorities to look into the matter as soon as possible."
St Michael's High School English teacher Ipshita Sharan pointed out that schools were supposed to teach one of the two novels.
CBSE Patna coordinator Rajiv Ranjan Sinha has brought the matter to the attention of the board's regional officer. He claimed, "Compensatory marks are likely to be given to the students who faced the problem."
