CUET UG 2026 dress code: NTA releases strict exam day rules; check what is allowed
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released a detailed advisory for candidates appearing in the CUET UG 2026 examination, laying down strict dress code and exam day protocols.
The guidelines aim to ensure smooth conduct of the examination and prevent any security-related issues at exam centres.
With lakhs of students expected to appear for the national-level entrance test, the NTA has asked candidates to strictly follow the instructions mentioned in the official notification.
The agency has also advised students to reach their exam centres well in advance for security checks and frisking.
According to the advisory, candidates must wear light-coloured, half-sleeved clothes. Clothing with large buttons, embroidery, or multiple pockets is not allowed.
For footwear, candidates are advised to wear slippers or low-heeled sandals. Shoes and boots are strictly prohibited at the exam centres.
The NTA has also stated that candidates who need to wear specific clothing due to religious or customary reasons must report at least one hour before the reporting time to complete proper frisking.
Candidates appearing for CUET UG 2026 must carry a printed admit card, a valid government photo ID such as Aadhaar card, PAN card, or passport, and a passport-size photograph for attendance purposes.
The NTA has strictly prohibited all electronic devices inside the exam hall. This includes mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices, and any other communication equipment.
In addition, candidates are not allowed to carry stationery items such as calculators, geometry boxes, or loose papers into the exam centre.
The agency has also made it clear that candidates arriving after the gate closing time will not be allowed to enter under any circumstances.
