DU revises UG exam schedule amid confusion, Sunday papers added for students
The University of Delhi has released the final schedule for undergraduate semester examinations, days after students raised concerns over confusion in the earlier date sheet. The revised timetable includes examinations on Sundays, a move the university says is aimed at helping senior students complete their papers earlier.
The latest development comes during a crucial phase of the academic session, with students across colleges preparing for semester-end examinations under both the existing and newly introduced academic structures.
According to university officials, some examinations have been scheduled on Sundays to ensure that the examination process is completed within the planned timeline. Authorities said the revised arrangement would help prevent delays in the academic calendar and allow final-year students to move ahead with admissions, placements, internships, and higher studies on time.
The decision has attracted attention among students, as Sunday examinations have not usually been a regular feature in the university’s semester schedule.
The final schedule was issued after several students reported confusion regarding the earlier examination timetable. Concerns were raised over paper timings, overlapping schedules, and gaps between examinations.
Following the complaints, the university revised the date sheet and issued the updated examination calendar for undergraduate programmes.
This examination cycle is also significant because it marks the first time Delhi University will conduct eighth-semester examinations under the four-year undergraduate framework introduced through the National Education Policy 2020.
The new structure allows eligible students to continue into a fourth year with options such as honours with research and multidisciplinary learning pathways. The eighth semester forms a key part of this expanded undergraduate model.
University officials maintained that the revised examination schedule has been prepared to ensure the smooth completion of the semester without affecting the larger academic timeline.
With the final date sheet now in place, colleges and departments are expected to coordinate examination arrangements and inform students about paper schedules and related instructions in the coming days.
