National Education Day 2022: Jamia Hamdard organises a lecture on ‘Role of Maulana Azad in Nation Building’
NEW DELHI: Jamia Hamdard celebrated National Education Day on the occasion of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s 135th Birth Anniversary on November 11, 2022 at Convention Centre, Jamia Hamdard. On this auspicious day, Dean Student Welfare (DSW), Jamia Hamdard, organised a Lecture on ‘Role of Maulana Azad in Nation Building’.
The programme commenced with the welcome of the Chief Guest Mr. Rizwanur Rahman, Executive Director, Power Finance Corporation, New Delhi; Guest of Honor Dr. Junaid Haris, Senior Faculty, Department of Islamic Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia and the other dignitaries. The program then proceeded with the inaugural address which was delivered by Dr. Zeenat Iqbal, Deputy DSW.
Dr. Junaid Haris started the conversation by saying that Maulana Azad put a lot of importance on education for young Indians. He has pointed out that the vision of Maulana Azad’s education policy was to create future generations of Vishwaguru in all walks of life. He also highlighted the vision and approach of Maulana Azad on the role of communal harmony especially between hindus and Muslims of the country towards Nation building with respect to Islamic perspectives.
Mr. Rizwanur Rehman, the Executive Director of Power Finance Corporation, talked about Maulana Azad’s contribution by saying that he believed in composite culture and wanted to find a balance between modernity and tradition. He praised Maulana Azad’s plan to build institutions and set up cultural and literary academies that have a strong sense of ethics.
The presidential speech was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) M. Afshar Alam, Vice-Chancellor, Jamia Hamdard in which he focused on the inspiration and contribution of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. Prof. Afshar Alam affirmed India’s global heraldry in cultural values and richness. He thanked Maulana Azad for being an inspiration and support system for Jamia Hamdard, Jamia Millia Islamia, and Aligarh Muslim University. These educational institutes had garnered sharp minds over the decades and nurtured minority communities.
Mr. S. S. Akhtar, Registrar, Jamia Hamdard reiterated the legacy of Maulana Azad. he further said that " Ilm ko Mashal ki tarah aage badhane ki koshish karta hai Jamia Hamdard".
The dignitaries who graced the occasion are Deans, Head of Departments, faculties, officers, Mr. Shaukat H Mufti, Mr. Mutiur Rahman and students of Jamia Hamdard.
The programme ended with ‘National Anthem’ and the vote of thanks was given by Mr. Syed Saud Akhtar, Registrar, Jamia Hamdard.
